Kevin De Bruyne to Leave Manchester City After 10 Legendary Years

It’s the end of an era! Manchester City’s midfield maestro, Kevin De Bruyne, has announced he’ll be leaving the club at the end of the current season — wrapping up an unforgettable 10-year journey filled with trophies, memories, and magic.

In an emotional open letter shared on social media Friday, the 33-year-old Belgian star broke the news directly to fans, writing:

“Nothing about this is easy to write… but as football players, we all know this day eventually comes.”

De Bruyne, who joined City in 2015 from Wolfsburg, reflected on how the club and the city of Manchester changed his life forever.

“Football led me to this city, this club, these people… and they gave me EVERYTHING. I had no choice but to give EVERYTHING back; every sprint, every pass, every goal. They welcomed me with open arms, believed in me through every moment, and made me one of their own. This place isn’t just a team; it’s a family, a passion, a heartbeat. So, I’ll keep pouring my soul into every game, because that’s what they deserve, and that’s what this journey means to me.” he wrote.

And he truly did. Over the past decade, De Bruyne helped City win every major trophy, including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and more.

“And guess what; we won EVERYTHING,” he proudly declared.

More than just football, Manchester became home. He shared how much the city means to his family:

“Suri, Rome, Mason, Michèle, and I are beyond grateful. ‘Manchester’ will forever be on our kids’ passports — and more importantly, in each of our hearts. This will always be our HOME.”

De Bruyne thanked the club, teammates, staff, and fans for what he called “the best chapter” of his career and urged supporters to savour the final moments with him:

“Let’s enjoy these last moments together!”

Wearing the iconic No. 17 jersey, Kevin De Bruyne remains a vital part of City’s current push for more silverware; but come season’s end, the curtain will fall on a truly legendary chapter at the Etihad.
